Observatory

P1010614.JPGP1010621.JPG

It was not possible to obtain planning permission to erect a standard observatory, so a gazebo look-alike "observatory" was constructed which satisfied the planners.

The telescope plinth is set in about 1/4 ton of concrete; an octagonal paving set forms the floor and the "dome" is a "trampoline tent" which folds back for observing.  The telescope is further protected by a separate waterproof cover.  The plastic garden storage box contains ancillary equipment and mains power is available.
